Statewide
Missouri (June 3rd, 2013)—The Missouri Hemp network is proud to
announce the 4th annual Hemp
History week. From June 3rd
through June 9th Americans can embrace the majestic history of
Industrial Hemp and praise the path it is taking right now. These celebrations includes free promotions,
information packets, and even a viewing of “Bring it Home”.
Steven
Wilson had this to say about Hemp History Week, “The Hemp issue has matured and
the American people are interested in the discussion now. They are contacting their public servants and
demanding answers. Farm sovereignty,
Genetically Modified food, and fair trade are now a primary focus for young
parents with children.”
Wilson
had mentioned that Missouri is not alien to Hemp cultivation. Oliver Anderson started hemp production in 1830 along with
partner Samuel Jackson. Eventually
Anderson would form Anderson and Gratz, which at their peak, produced 20 tons
of Hemp. In one year they shipped 1,700
coils of hemp rope into St Louis.
Missouri
Hemp even played a role in the civil war. At the Battle of Lexington, Hemp
Bales saved the day as they were used as
a shield against enemy fire.
Wilson
added, “Hemp is our future because it is our past”.
Hemp
History week is being celebrated throughout the state at these locations.
